Reishi Mushroom Powder Mode of Action
Reishi Mushroom contains so many bioactive constituents that no one single molecule can be defined as its main bioactive. Polysaccharides, peptidoglycans, and triterpenoids are the main classes of active constituents in the mushroom (1), as well as beta-glucans. It contains over 120 triterpenoid compounds, some of which are referred to as lucidenic acids. Sterols, fatty acids, Vitamin C, copper, zinc, riboflavin, selenium, and germanium comprise the rest of the mushroom (1).
Reishi is known as a traditional folk remedy in China, Japan, and Taiwan (1). Its anti-oxidant capacity shows an acute increase in plasma anti-oxidant markers within 90 minutes (2).
